Anna's Early Life and School

Anna Lysyanskaya grew up in Kiev, which was part of the Soviet Union at the time. Today, Kiev is known as Kyiv and is the capital of Ukraine.

In 1993, she moved to the United States. She attended Smith College and finished her studies there in 1997. After that, she went to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for more advanced education.

She earned her master's degree from MIT in 1999. Then, in 2002, she completed her Ph.D., which is the highest university degree. Her special research project was about creating secure digital signatures. Her professor, Ron Rivest, helped guide her research.

Anna's Work and Achievements

After finishing her Ph.D., Anna Lysyanskaya joined the faculty at Brown University in 2002. She became a full professor there in 2023.

She is also a very important member of the International Association for Cryptologic Research. This is a big group for people who study cryptography. She was first chosen to be on their board of directors in 2012. She has been re-elected three times since then, showing how much her colleagues respect her work.

In 2024, Anna Lysyanskaya received a special award called the Levchin Prize. She won this prize because she helped create efficient Anonymous Credentials. This means she found ways to make those special digital IDs work really well and quickly, keeping people's information private.
