The Story of Annabella
Annabella has an interesting past! The area was first settled in 1871. The very first name for the settlement was Omni Point. This name came from the nearby town of Richfield, which was called Omni. The "Point" referred to a higher piece of land about five miles south of Richfield.
The town of Annabella itself was settled a little later. It was founded by John Gleave and Edward Killick Roberts. They built the town near two creeks, which they named Cottonwood Creek and Annabella Springs.
How Annabella Got Its Name
The town was named "Annabella" to honor two of the first women who lived there: Ann S. Roberts and Isabella Dalton. Isabella Dalton lived at Omni Point and passed away in 1873.
