Her Famous Book

As Anne traveled with her brother, she learned a lot about the local area. These journeys helped her create her own important book. It was called Glossary of Northamptonshire Words and Phrases, to which are added the customs of the county. This book was published in two volumes in London in 1854. It is known as one of the best local lexicons (dictionaries of special words).

Anne Elizabeth Baker passed away on April 22, 1861. She died at her home in Gold Street, Northampton.
