About Anne Magill
Anne Magill grew up in Northern Ireland. She started her art journey by studying at Liverpool Polytechnic. Later, she moved to London to attend St. Martins School of Art from 1981 to 1984.
After her studies, Anne became a professional illustrator. She created drawings for many magazines, book publishers, and advertising companies. She even drew for big newspapers like The Sunday Times and The Observer.
Anne also worked as a special kind of artist called a courtroom artist. She drew scenes from court for the BBC and ITN news channels. Her commercial clients included well-known brands like British Airways, Marks & Spencer, Nike, and Levi Strauss. She even won an award for her illustrations!
Anne had her very first art show in 1992. Since then, her paintings have been shown in many galleries in London. Her art has also traveled to Europe, the United States, and Ireland for exhibitions.
Helping Others Through Art
Anne Magill uses her art to help others. This is called philanthropy.
In March 2010, she gave one of her paintings, titled "Still," to help the Terence Higgins Trust. This charity supports people with HIV. The painting was part of a series showing performers getting ready for a show.
Later in 2010, Anne joined a special campaign by British Airways. It was called "Save the Postcard" and aimed to celebrate postcards.
In April 2011, Anne contributed a piece of art to an exhibition called Harestyling. This event raised money for Great Ormond Street Hospital, a famous children's hospital. Her artwork was later sold at a celebrity event for over £2000, helping the hospital even more.
In December 2011, Anne donated another painting called "Just Before Midnight." This artwork was auctioned at the Cinderella Ball. The money raised went to the Muir Maxwell Trust, a charity that helps children with epilepsy.
