Annika Langvad (born March 22, 1984) is a Danish former professional cyclist. She was known for her amazing skills in cross-country mountain bike racing. Annika rode for the Specialized Racing team for many years.
She is a five-time World Champion in mountain biking. She won four titles in mountain bike marathon and one in cross-country. This makes her one of the best mountain bikers ever!

Annika Langvad's Cycling Journey
Annika Langvad had a very successful career in cycling. She competed in both mountain biking and road cycling. She was known for her strength and endurance on the bike.
Mountain Bike Success
From 2014, Annika teamed up with Ariane Kleinhans. They won the women's category of the Absa Cape Epic three times in a row. The Cape Epic is a very tough mountain bike stage race in South Africa. Annika won this race a total of five times during her career. This shows how dominant she was in endurance mountain biking.
In 2015, Annika also won the Leadville 100 race. This is a famous 100-mile mountain bike race in the USA. She was the first woman to finish it in under 7 hours. This was a huge achievement!
In 2016, Annika became the World Champion in Women's cross-country mountain biking. This is one of the most important titles in the sport. She also finished second in the UCI World Cup rankings for Cross Country that year. She was only a few points behind the leader. She repeated this second-place finish in the World Cup in 2018.
Annika also won the World Marathon Championships five times. These wins happened in 2011, 2012, 2014, 2017, and 2018. A marathon mountain bike race is a very long endurance event.
Road Cycling Highlights
Besides mountain biking, Annika also had success in road cycling. In 2010, she won the Danish national road race championship. She also became the Danish time trial champion three times (in 2010, 2011, and 2013).
In 2013, she finished sixth in the individual time trial at the UCI Road World Championships. This showed she could compete with the best road cyclists too.
In 2019, Annika rode for a professional road cycling team. She achieved some impressive results in major races. She finished second at Strade Bianche. She also placed fourth at the Amstel Gold Race. And she was third at Flèche Wallonne. These are all very tough one-day races.
Retirement
Annika Langvad announced her retirement from professional cycling on October 9, 2020. She left the sport as a true legend. She had achieved many amazing things in both mountain biking and road cycling.
