Annraoí Ó Liatháin was born in a place called Portumna in County Galway, Ireland. His parents were Michael Lyons and Annie McKee. When he was a child, his family moved to Waterford. He went to Primary school there. After school, he spent five years learning to be a Christian Brother. This was with a group called the Congregation of Christian Brothers. He studied in Tullow, County Carlow, and also in Youghal.

His Work and Writing

After his studies, Annraoí Ó Liatháin started working for the Irish government in 1936. This is called the Irish Civil Service. He first worked in an office that valued property. Later, he joined a team at the Department of Education. This team worked on creating dictionaries.

Annraoí Ó Liatháin wrote all his books in the Irish language, which was his native language. He wrote several novels that were very popular with teenagers. He also helped write books about nature. From 1952 to 1955, he was the president of Conradh na Gaeilge. This is an important group that promotes the Irish language.

His Family Life

In 1949, Annraoí Ó Liatháin married Margaret Fox. She was from Ballymote in County Sligo. They had eight children together.
