Anong Beam is an Ojibwe artist and curator. She comes from the M'Chigeeng First Nation in Ontario, Canada.

About Anong Beam
Anong Beam was born Anong Migwans Beam. Her parents are both famous artists. Her father, Carl Beam, was an award-winning Indigenous artist. Her mother, Ann Elena Weatherby, is a feminist artist.
Anong Beam studied art at several schools. In 1998, she went to the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. She also attended the Ontario College of Art and Design from 1999 to 2000. Later, she studied at the Institute of American Indian Arts in 2001. Currently, she is working on her Masters degree at York University.
Her Work and Community
Anong Beam's art is deeply connected to where she lives. Many of her paintings show the beautiful landscapes of her home on Manitoulin Island.
Besides creating art, Anong Beam is very active in her community. She is well-known for her work as a curator, which means she helps organize art shows.
In 2007, she helped start Gimaa Radio Communications. This is a radio station in M'Chigeeng First Nation. It broadcasts in both English and the Ojibwe language. The station helps keep the Ojibwe language alive. It also plays local Indigenous music.
From 2016 to 2017, Anong Beam was the Art Director of the Ojibwe Cultural Foundation. After that, she became the Executive Director of the foundation in 2017.
BEAM Paints
In 2017, Anong Beam started her own company called "BEAM Paints." She makes watercolour and oil paints. What's special about her paints is that she finds all the minerals and pigments herself. She gets them from local sources around her home.
Anong Beam also speaks out about important issues. She believes it's important to protect Indigenous archaeology. This includes ancient sites and artifacts. She also works to preserve Indigenous ceramics in local communities.
In 2024, Anong Beam wrote a book about her father. The book is called Carl Beam: Life & Work. It tells the story of her father's career as an artist.
