Antônio Lopes dos Santos, known to many as Antônio Lopes, is a famous Brazilian football coach and former player. He was born on June 12, 1941, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Before becoming a well-known football coach, he had a very different career. He worked as a chief police officer in Rio de Janeiro city!
Antônio Lopes also helped the Brazil national football team as an assistant manager. He worked with coach Émerson Leão in 2000. He was also part of the team led by Luiz Felipe Scolari when Brazil won the 2002 FIFA World Cup. This was a huge achievement for Brazil and for him.
In 2005, Antônio Lopes became the manager of Corinthians. He took over from Márcio Bittencourt during the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A season. Under his leadership, Corinthians won the championship that year. This showed his great skill as a coach.

He also coached Portuguesa, Internacional, and Santos. Other teams he managed were Atlético Paranaense, Grêmio, and Vasco da Gama. He also coached Coritiba, Paraná, Corinthians, and Goiás.
In 2011, Antônio Lopes was hired as the head coach for América-MG. He continued to share his knowledge and experience with new teams.

Antônio Lopes has a son named Júnior Lopes. Just like his father, Júnior Lopes is also a football manager. It seems the love for football runs in their family!
