Anthony Avent (born October 18, 1969) is an American former professional basketball player. He was chosen by the Atlanta Hawks in the first round of the 1991 NBA draft. Anthony was born in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. He played for several teams in the NBA. These teams included the Milwaukee Bucks, Orlando Magic, Vancouver Grizzlies, Utah Jazz, and Los Angeles Clippers.

Anthony Avent's Early Life and College Career
Anthony Avent went to Malcolm X Shabazz High School in Newark, New Jersey. After high school, he played college basketball at Seton Hall University. He was a key player for Seton Hall. In 1989, he helped his team reach the NCAA championship game. This is a very big achievement in college basketball.
Starting His Professional Basketball Journey
In 1991, Anthony Avent was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks. He was the 15th player chosen overall in the draft. However, he decided to start his professional career in Italy. He signed with a team called Phonola Caserta in the Italian League. This happened because he could not agree on a good contract with the Milwaukee Bucks.
After playing one season in Italy, Anthony Avent returned to the NBA. He signed a four-year contract with the Milwaukee Bucks. His contract started at $500,000 for the first year. It then increased by $150,000 each year after that. This meant he would earn $950,000 in his fourth year with the team. On average, he made about $725,000 each season.
Playing in the NBA and Overseas
Anthony Avent played for six seasons in the NBA. Besides the Milwaukee Bucks, he also played for the Orlando Magic and the Vancouver Grizzlies. Later in his career, he joined the Utah Jazz and the Los Angeles Clippers.
