Anthony Bowens' Wrestling Journey
Starting His Wrestling Career (2013–2016)
Anthony Bowens began his wrestling training in 2012. He made his first professional wrestling appearance in 2013. In December 2016, Bowens had a match on WWE NXT. During this match, he got a concussion.
Independent Wrestling Scene (2016–2020)
After recovering from his injury, Bowens wrestled for many independent groups. These included Combat Zone Wrestling and Beyond Wrestling. He also appeared for Global Force Wrestling and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling. He won the WrestlePro Heavyweight Championship twice. This was between 2016 and 2017.
In January 2017, Bowens challenged Drew Galloway. This was for the WCPW World Heavyweight Championship. The match took place at Battle Club Pro's Fight Forever event. It was the first time that title was defended outside the UK.
Joining All Elite Wrestling (2020–Present)
The Acclaimed Tag Team (2020–2025)
In November 2020, All Elite Wrestling President Tony Khan made an announcement. He said that Bowens and Max Caster had signed five-year contracts. They would compete as a tag team called The Acclaimed. They quickly became known as "heels," which means they played the bad guys.
In May 2022, Bowens had knee surgery. This meant he couldn't wrestle for several months. Even so, he still attended AEW shows. He performed his usual speeches, but he used a wheelchair. During this time, Caster often teamed up with the Gunns. The Acclaimed had formed an alliance with them. Bowens returned to wrestling in June 2022. In September 2022, The Acclaimed became "faces." This means they became the good guys because fans cheered for them.
At AEW Grand Slam in 2022, The Acclaimed won the AEW World Tag Team Championship. They later lost the titles to The Gunn Club. The Acclaimed also formed a team with Billy Gunn. He is the father of Austin and Colten Gunn.
Bowens, Caster, and Billy Gunn then defeated The House of Black. They became AEW World Trios Champions. At Dynasty: Zero Hour on April 21, 2024, they faced Bullet Club Gold. This team included Jay White, Austin Gunn, and Colten Gunn. Bullet Club Gold won the match. This unified the Trios Championship titles. The Acclaimed's reign ended after a record 238 days.
The Acclaimed then started a rivalry with The Young Bucks. They defeated The Young Bucks on June 19, 2024, on Dynamite. This win earned them a future chance at the AEW World Tag Team Championship. The Acclaimed were also part of Team AEW. They defeated The Elite in a Blood and Guts match on July 24, 2024. On August 14, 2024, The Acclaimed's title match against The Young Bucks ended in a disqualification. This was due to interference from FTR. At All In on August 25, 2024, The Acclaimed again failed to win the titles. This was in a three-way tag team match that also included FTR.
In November 2024, problems started between The Acclaimed members. Caster began to act more arrogant. In January 2025, on the Maximum Carnage episode of Collision, Bowens chose to side with Billy Gunn. This led to Caster breaking up The Acclaimed.
Singles Matches (2025–Present)
On April 6, 2025, at Dynasty Zero Hour, Bowens defeated Caster in a quick match. On July 12, 2025, at All In, Bowens competed in the men's Casino Gauntlet match. MJF won this match.
