Anthony Rotich (born 1991) is an American long-distance runner. He is best known for racing in the 3000 metres steeplechase. This is a special running event where athletes jump over hurdles and water obstacles. Anthony Rotich was a very successful college athlete. He won four national championships in the NCAA Division 1. He was also named an All-American twelve times. This means he was recognized as one of the best college athletes in the country.
Anthony Rotich's Running Journey
College Success
Anthony Rotich started his running career at Koiwa High School. He was a state champion there. After high school, he joined the UTEP track and cross country team. UTEP is known for having many talented runners from East Africa.
At UTEP, Anthony became a three-time national champion in the 3000 meters steeplechase. In 2014, he won the mile race at the indoor national championships. He also won the 3000-meter steeplechase at the outdoor national championships that same year.
In 2015, Anthony was named the top track and field athlete for Conference USA. By the time he finished college in 2015, he had earned twelve All-American honors. These awards show he was one of the top athletes in college track and cross country.
Professional Races
After college, Anthony Rotich continued to compete. In 2016, he finished fourth in the 3,000m steeplechase at the Payton Jordan Invitational. This race took place at Stanford University.
In 2017, Anthony returned to the Payton Jordan Invitational. This time, he won the 3,000m steeplechase. He also won the Music City Distance Carnival steeplechase in Nashville, Tennessee in 2018.
