Anthony Smith (born March 16, 1997) is an American professional basketball player. He plays as a power forward for KK Podgorica in the Prva A Liga. Before becoming a pro, he played college basketball for Barton Community College and Murray State.
High School Basketball Journey
Anthony Smith went to Potomac High School. During his junior year, he helped his team achieve a great record of 23 wins and 5 losses. They even won the Maryland 2A state championship!
In December 2015, Anthony had an injury. He tore a ligament in his knee while trying to dunk the ball. This happened during a game where his team won 76–68 against Friendly High School.
College Basketball Career
Anthony Smith played for two seasons at Barton Community College. In his second year there, he was a key player. He scored about 12.7 points and grabbed 8.3 rebounds per game. His strong play helped the team finish with 25 wins and 8 losses.
Because of his excellent performance, Anthony was chosen for the All-Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference first team. He also made it onto the NJCAA All-Region 6 team. In one amazing game against Pratt Community College, he scored a career-high 32 points and got 11 rebounds.
In April 2017, Anthony signed with Murray State. As a junior, he averaged 3.6 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. In the 2018–19 season, he started strong, averaging 7.6 points and 5.0 rebounds over five games. However, an ankle injury kept him from playing the rest of that season.
In July 2019, he was given a special chance to play for a fifth season. On January 18, 2020, he had a fantastic game. He scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in a 96–91 overtime win against Southeast Missouri State. In his final year at college, Anthony averaged 9.4 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game.
Professional Basketball Career
Anthony Smith started his professional basketball journey on September 17, 2020. He signed his first pro contract with Borac Čačak in the Basketball League of Serbia. During his time there, he averaged 6.9 points and 3.8 rebounds per game.
On August 15, 2021, Anthony moved to a new team. He signed with Imortal Basket in the Liga Portuguesa de Basquetebol in Portugal. Since then, he has played for several teams around the world. These include:
