Antoni Ros-Marbà is a famous Spanish conductor and composer from Catalonia. He was born in 1937 in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat. He is well-known for leading many important orchestras throughout his career.

Early Life and Musical Journey
Antoni Ros-Marbà began his music education at the Conservatori Superior de Música de Barcelona. He learned how to conduct from great teachers. These included Eduard Toldrà, Sergiu Celibidache, and Jean Martinon.
He even worked directly with Eduard Toldrà on an opera called Giravolt de maig. Ros-Marbà said it was a wonderful moment. He helped the singers by playing the piano for them. In 1992, he was part of the first stage performance of Robert Gerhard's only opera, La Dueña. This show took place at the Teatro de la Zarzuela and the Gran Teatre del Liceu.
Leading Major Orchestras
In 1966, the RTVE Symphony Orchestra was founded in Madrid. Antoni Ros-Marbà won a competition to become its Principal Conductor. The next year, in 1967, he became the Principal Conductor of the Orquestra Ciutat de Barcelona. He held this role until 1978. He returned to lead this orchestra again from 1981 to 1986.
In 1978, he was named the music director of the Spanish National Orchestra. From 1979 to 1986, he also led the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra as its Principal Conductor. Later, between 2001 and 2013, Ros-Marbà conducted the Real Filharmonia de Galicia. This orchestra is located in Santiago de Compostela, Spain.
Special Musical Projects
In 2005, on the National Day of Catalonia, Antoni Ros-Marbà created a new version of the Catalonia national anthem. The Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya and the Orfeó Català performed this new arrangement.
Preserving His Work
A collection of Antoni Ros-Marbà's musical scores is kept safe at the Biblioteca de Catalunya. These scores include pieces from when he worked with Esbart Verdaguer.
