Antoni Słonimski (born November 15, 1895 – died July 4, 1976) was a famous Polish writer. He was a poet, artist, journalist, and wrote plays and stories. He was also the head of the Polish Writers' Union for a few years. People knew him for caring a lot about fairness and justice for everyone.
Antoni Słonimski was born in Warsaw, which is the capital city of Poland. His grandfather, Hayyim Selig Slonimski, started a very important Hebrew newspaper. Antoni studied art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.
In 1919, he helped start a group of new and exciting poets called Skamander. He worked with other famous writers like Julian Tuwim. Antoni also loved to travel. He visited places like Palestine, Brazil, and the Soviet Union.

World War II and Beyond
During World War II, Antoni Słonimski lived in England and France. He returned to Poland in 1951. He wrote for popular magazines like Nowa Kultura and Szpilki.
He was a strong voice against unfair rules and wanted more freedom for people. In 1964, he helped write an important letter to the Prime Minister. This letter, called the Letter of 34, asked for more freedom in culture.
Antoni Słonimski passed away on July 4, 1976, in a car accident in Warsaw.
