Antonio Adán Garrido, born on May 13, 1987, is a Spanish professional footballer. He plays as a goalkeeper.
Antonio started his career at Real Madrid when he was young. He mostly played as a backup goalkeeper there. Later, he spent a big part of his career with Betis. He played 129 matches in La Liga for these clubs.
He also played for Atlético Madrid. Antonio played abroad for Cagliari in Italy's Serie A. He won two Primeira Liga titles with Sporting CP in Portugal. Antonio played 39 games for different Spanish youth teams.

Antonio Adán's Club Journey
Time at Real Madrid
Antonio Adán grew up playing football at the Real Madrid youth academy. He was the main goalkeeper for their C team in the 2005–06 season. He played 36 games and let in 29 goals. He also helped the youth team win the Champions Cup.
In August 2006, Antonio joined the first team for a tour in the United States. He was the backup goalkeeper for Real Madrid Castilla, which is Real Madrid's reserve team. Antonio played his first game in the Segunda División on August 27, 2006. This was a 1–1 draw against CD Castellón.
After some changes in the team, Antonio became the third-choice goalkeeper for the main Real Madrid squad. This was during the 2009–10 season. He was behind famous goalkeepers like Iker Casillas and Jerzy Dudek.
On December 8, 2010, Antonio played his first official game for Real Madrid. He came on as a substitute in a UEFA Champions League match. Real Madrid won that game 4–0 against AJ Auxerre. The next month, he played a full game in the Copa del Rey.
Antonio made his La Liga debut on February 13, 2011. He replaced Iker Casillas who was sent off early in the game. Real Madrid won that match 1–0 against RCD Espanyol. In the next game, he started and kept a clean sheet in a 2–0 win.
On December 22, 2012, Antonio started a game over Iker Casillas. This was a big decision by the coach, José Mourinho. Mourinho said he chose Antonio because he believed Antonio was playing better. Antonio kept his spot for the next game but was sent off early.
Playing for Cagliari
On September 2, 2013, Antonio left Real Madrid. On November 19, he joined Cagliari Calcio in Italy. He made his Serie A debut on January 5, 2014. This game was a 0–0 draw against A.C. ChievoVerona.
Time at Real Betis
On January 27, 2014, Antonio left Cagliari and returned to Spain. He joined Real Betis, a team that was struggling at the time. He played 40 games in his first full season. He helped his team win the second-tier championship. This meant they were promoted back to the top division.
Antonio became a team captain in August 2014. He played almost every game for Betis in the next two seasons.
Joining Atlético Madrid
Antonio returned to Madrid on July 10, 2018. He signed a two-year contract with Atlético Madrid. He mostly played in domestic cup games. He made his league debut for Atlético in the last game of the 2018–19 season. He filled in for the injured Jan Oblak.
Success with Sporting CP
On August 20, 2020, Antonio moved to the Portuguese club Sporting CP. He joined them on a free transfer for two years. He was a very important player when they won their first Primeira Liga title in 19 years. He kept 20 clean sheets and only let in 19 goals in 32 matches. In November 2021, his contract was extended until 2024.
Antonio won another league title at the end of the 2023–24 season. He was injured in the last two months of the season. However, he still played in 22 games before his injury.
Antonio Adán's International Career
In July 2006, Antonio was the captain of the Spain under-19 team. He led them to win the UEFA European Championship. Four other players from Real Madrid were also on that team.
He was later called up to the under-21 squad. This was for a play-off game against Italy in October 2006. He did not play in that game. Antonio made his only appearance for the under-21 team on February 6, 2007. This was a friendly game against England that ended in a 2–2 draw.
