Antonio Gisbert Pérez (born December 19, 1834 – died November 27, 1901) was a Spanish artist. He was known for painting important historical events in a realistic style. His paintings often showed his support for liberal ideas, which were about freedom and equal rights. Gisbert's art style was a mix of realism and romanticism, making him part of the Spanish eclectic school of painters.

Life and Work

Antonio Gisbert was born in a town called Alcoy, Spain, on December 19, 1834. He started learning art at a young age. In 1846, he began his art studies at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in Madrid. There, he learned from a famous artist named José de Madrazo.

Gisbert became the Director of the Museo del Prado in Madrid in 1868. This is a very important art museum in Spain. He worked there until 1873. He decided to leave his job because he did not agree with the new government, which was called the First Spanish Republic. After that, he moved to Paris, France, where he lived for the rest of his life. Antonio Gisbert passed away in Paris on November 27, 1901.
