Antonio Maurice Lang, born on May 15, 1972, is an American who used to play professional basketball. Now, he is an assistant coach for the Atlanta Hawks, a team in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Duke Blue Devils and helped them win two NCAA championships in a row in 1991 and 1992.

Antonio Lang's Early Basketball Journey
High School Success
Antonio Lang grew up in Mobile, Alabama. He was a very smart student and graduated as the top student from LeFlore Magnet High School in 1990. The year before he graduated, he helped his high school basketball team win a state championship.
College Championships at Duke
Antonio had a great time playing college basketball for the Duke Blue Devils. He was part of a team that reached the Final Four three times. Even better, his team won two NCAA championships in a row, in 1991 and 1992. This was a huge achievement for him and his team.
Antonio Lang's Professional Playing Career
Starting in the NBA
In 1994, the Phoenix Suns picked Antonio Lang in the NBA draft. He was the 29th player chosen overall. However, he didn't get to play much in his first year because of a knee injury. In 1995, he was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Playing for Different Teams
Antonio also played for other NBA teams like the Toronto Raptors, Philadelphia 76ers, and Miami Heat. Besides the NBA, he played in another league called the Continental Basketball Association (CBA). He played for teams like the Fort Wayne Fury and Grand Rapids Hoops. In 1998, he was even chosen for the All-CBA Second Team, which means he was one of the best players in that league. He also played basketball in the Philippine Basketball Association for the Red Bull Thunder.
Playing in Japan and Retirement
In 2001, Antonio started playing for the Mitsubishi Melco Dolphins in Japan. This team is now called the Mitsubishi Diamond Dolphins. He played there until 2006. Unfortunately, he had problems with his feet, which made him decide to stop playing basketball professionally in 2006.
Antonio Lang's Coaching Career
Becoming a Coach in Japan
After he stopped playing, Antonio Lang became an assistant coach for the Mitsubishi Diamond Dolphins in Japan. He worked hard, and on May 19, 2010, he was named the head coach of the Dolphins.
Coaching in the NBA
In June 2014, Antonio was hired as an assistant coach for the Utah Jazz. He joined the coaching staff of Quin Snyder, who also played basketball at Duke. Later, on June 19, 2019, Antonio became an assistant coach for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Most recently, on June 14, 2023, Antonio Lang was hired by the Atlanta Hawks as an assistant coach, where he works today.
