Apple Sidra (Chinese: 蘋菓西打; pinyin: Píngguǒ Xīdǎ) is a popular carbonated soft drink from Taiwan. It was first sold in 1965. This fizzy drink is made by Oceanic Beverages Co., Inc. and is mostly sold in Taiwan. It tastes like sweet natural apple with a hint of citrus. Apple Sidra is special because it doesn't have any preservatives or artificial flavors. You can find it in different sizes, like small cans and larger bottles.
The Story of Apple Sidra
Apple Sidra was first thought of in 1963. It began to be made in 1965. Investors from the Philippines and the United States helped start the company. The drink was introduced to the Philippines in 1969. There, it was sold in glass bottles.
Apple Sidra became very popular in the 1970s. At first, it came in three-piece aluminum cans. But in 1981, it was one of the first drinks in Asia to use newer, two-piece cans. Today, Apple Sidra is made in Taiwan. You can also find it in special stores in other countries.
Keeping Apple Sidra Safe
In 2019, some people found unexpected things in their two-liter bottles of Apple Sidra. Because of this, Oceanic Beverages decided to take back about 1.2 million bottles. They believed the problem was due to an issue with cleaning at their factories.
About 80,000 two-liter bottles made between July 4 and July 18, 2018, were thought to have this problem. The company had also faced similar issues in 2018. They worked to make sure their products were safe for everyone to enjoy.
