Applegate is a small village located in Sanilac County, which is part of the U.S. state of Michigan. In 2020, about 241 people lived here. Applegate is found in the southeastern part of Washington Township. It sits right on the border with Sanilac Township.

History of Applegate
Applegate started as a community way back in 1856. A man named George Pack was important in its beginning. He built a sawmill in this area. A sawmill is a place where logs are cut into lumber. This was a very important business at that time.
