Aprada-tepui is a special kind of mountain called a tepui. It is located in the Bolívar state of Venezuela. This mountain stands about 2,500 meters (8,200 feet) above sea level.
Aprada-tepui gives its name to the Aprada Massif. A massif is a group of mountains that are connected. The Aprada Massif also includes a smaller mountain called Araopán-tepui, which is to the east. A steep, curved ridge connects these two mountain tops.
Aprada-tepui is about 22 kilometers (14 miles) northwest of the much larger Chimantá Massif. It is also about 25 kilometers (16 miles) east of Urimán, a village where the Pemón people live.
The top of Aprada-tepui covers an area of about 4.37 square kilometers (1.69 square miles). When you include Araopán-tepui, the total slope area is about 210 square kilometers (81 square miles). Both of these mountains are completely inside the Canaima National Park.
Animals and Plants
Aprada-tepui is home to some unique animals. Two types of frogs, Pristimantis jamescameroni and Anomaloglossus breweri, live only on Aprada-tepui. This means they are endemic to this mountain and cannot be found anywhere else in the world.
