Arakawa (荒川区, Arakawa-ku) is one of the 23 special wards that form the large city of Tokyo, Japan. It's like one of the many unique neighborhoods that make up the capital of Japan.

Even though it's called a "special ward," it acts a lot like a city on its own. That's why the local government calls itself "Arakawa City" in English.

Geography

Arakawa is located in the east-central part of Tokyo. Imagine Tokyo as a big puzzle; Arakawa is one of the pieces in the middle-east.

It shares its borders with several other parts of Tokyo. To the south, it touches Taitō. On its western side, you'll find Kita. If you look to the north, Arakawa borders Adachi. To the east, it's next to Katsushika, and on its southeast side, it connects with Sumida.

Education

Arakawa is home to different schools. One well-known school in the area is Kaisei Academy.
