The Arakkal Museum is a special place in Kerala, India. It is dedicated to the Arakkal family, who were the only Muslim royal family in this region.
The museum is actually part of their old home, called Arakkalkettu, which means Arakkal Royal Palace. The part of the palace where the rulers used to meet important people, called the durbar hall, was turned into a museum. The government of Kerala helped to open it in July 2005 after it was fixed up.
Even though the government helped with the repairs, the Arakkalkettu still belongs to the Arakkal Royal Trust. This means it is not managed by the country's main archaeology department. The government wanted to help keep the history of the Arakkal Family alive. This family was very important in the history of Malabar, which is the northern part of Kerala. Visitors pay a small fee to enter the museum. This money helps the Arakkal Royal Trust take care of the museum.
