The Arauco Peninsula (pronounced Ah-rah-oo-koh) is a piece of land that sticks out into the Pacific Ocean in Southern Chile. It's located in the Arauco Province, which shares the same name. This peninsula is west of the Cordillera de Nahuelbuta, a mountain range. From a geology point of view, it's a raised area that sits in front of a larger mountain range.
