Early Life and Starting Out
Archan Nair was born and grew up in India. Before becoming an artist, he studied fashion and even had his own business. But in 2006, when he was 24, he started painting. By 2007, he decided to become a full-time independent artist. He began his journey as a digital artist and illustrator in the early 2000s, right when digital art was becoming popular. Later, he moved to Germany.
Archan's Art Career
Since 2007, Archan has worked with many different brands all over the world. His clients include well-known names like Sony, Nike, Red Bull, Microsoft, Netflix, and Adobe.
His art has been shown in many popular magazines such as VICE, Vogue, GQ, and Vanity Fair. Famous music artists like Kanye West have also recognized his work. Archan has even collaborated with celebrities like Chris Brown and Lindsay Lohan.
He really enjoys working with music bands. In an interview with RollingStone magazine, he shared that musicians often give him a lot of freedom to create visuals that match their music. He loves turning sounds into images!
Cool Projects and Collaborations
Working with Nike
In 2011, Archan created five special artworks for a ICC Cricket World Cup campaign by Nike. These cool designs were printed on T-shirts and sold as a limited edition in stores across Asia and other countries.
The next year, in 2012, Nike held an exhibition where Archan created two huge artworks. He was one of many famous artists and designers from around the world who participated.
Working with Sony
In 2013, Sony teamed up with Archan to create a unique artwork for their new mobile phone, the Xperia Z Ultra. They even made a special film showing how Archan created the artwork and telling his story. The artwork was also printed on posters that were signed and sold as a limited edition.
