A Look Back: Archer's History
Archer was founded in 1888. It was named after John Archer, who owned the land where the town was built.
In 1988, Archer celebrated its 100th birthday! The mayor at the time, Bill Engeltjes, helped organize a big party. This celebration included a parade, a fashion show, a street dance, and even a "greased pig" contest. It was a fun way to honor the history of this part of Iowa.
Today, Archer has two churches: one Methodist and one Reformed.
