Exploring Ardales
Ardales has some interesting places to visit. On a hill above the town, you can find a historic church. Even higher up are the old ruins of Ardales Castle. At the very top of the hill is a small religious building called the hermitage Ermita del Calvario.
The Caminito del Rey
A very famous and exciting path called the Caminito del Rey is located nearby. It is a walkway pinned along the steep walls of a narrow gorge. It used to be one of the most dangerous walkways in the world. Now, it has been made safe and is a popular spot for hikers.
Ancient History in Ardales
Ardales is also famous for its ancient history. The Cave of Ardales, also known as cueva de doña Trinidad Grund, holds a big secret. In 2021, scientists found out that Neanderthals made paintings there about 64,800 years ago. These paintings are very old and show that Neanderthals were artistic. They used pigments to create these markings during the Middle Paleolithic period. This discovery helps us learn more about early human history.
