Arianne Jessica Chernock (born in 1975) is an American historian. She specializes in the history of modern Britain and Europe. She has written two books focusing on women's rights and the history of women in the United Kingdom. Ms. Chernock is a professor at Boston University.
Arianne Chernock's Education and Career
Early Studies
Arianne Chernock earned her first degree, a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), from Brown University in May 1997. She studied history there. Later, she continued her education at the University of California, Berkeley. She received her Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in 1999. She then completed her Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy) in history in 2004. Her main advisors for her Ph.D. were Thomas W. Laqueur and Carla Hesse.
Teaching and Professorship
From 2004 to 2006, Ms. Chernock worked as an assistant professor. She taught in the university writing program at Columbian College of Arts and Sciences. In 2006, she joined the history department at Boston University. She started there as an assistant professor. She was promoted to associate professor in 2013. Then, in 2022, she became a full professor.
