Araceli "Arly" Jover is a Spanish actress. She is famous for playing the bad guy vampire Mercury in the 1998 superhero film Blade.

Arly Jover's Life and Acting Career
Araceli Jover was born in Melilla, a Spanish city. When she was five years old, her family moved to Mallorca in the Balearic Islands, Spain. They moved because her father was a soldier and had to work there. Arly is the youngest of seven children. She has four sisters and three brothers.
Early Life and Dance
When Arly was young, she dreamed of becoming a dancer. She started dancing at age 8. At 14, she left school to focus on dance. When she was 15, she won a special scholarship. This allowed her to leave Spain and move to New York City. There, she studied ballet at the School of American Ballet. She also learned from a famous dancer named Martha Graham.
Becoming an Actress
After about two and a half years in the United States, Arly changed her career path. Around 1995 or 1996, she decided to become an actress. Her first acting job was in a TV show called Women: Stories of Passion. She also acted in two international movies, Tango and The Ballad of Johnny-Jane.
Later, she did more TV work. Her first American movie role was in Blade in 1998. In this film, she played Mercury, a vampire who was close to the villain Deacon Frost.
Later Roles and Moving to France
After Blade, Arly Jover took on many small roles in films and TV shows. She also had bigger parts in movies like Fish in a Barrel and Vampires: Los Muertos.
After living in the United States for 18 years, she moved to France. Soon after arriving, she got a big role in the movie Empire of the Wolves. She acted alongside the famous actor Jean Reno.
Today, Arly lives in Paris, France, with her daughter, Shai. Her family still lives in Mallorca, Spain. Arly visits them every summer.
