Armando Nieto Vélez was a very important person in the world of history in Peru. He was a member of the Society of Jesus, which is a religious group of priests. He became a priest on August 28, 1964, in Frankfurt am Main Cathedral.
He taught history at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru. He also led several important groups. He was the Director of the Peruvian Center of Studies Historic-Militar. He also directed the Riva Agüero Institute. Later, he became the President of the National Academy of History. These roles show how much he contributed to understanding Peru's past.
Armando Nieto Vélez passed away in Lima on March 27, 2017. He was 85 years old and died from pneumonia.
