Arnolds Park Amusement Park
The city is home to the historic Arnolds Park Amusement Park. This park is famous for its roller coaster called "Legend." Legend first opened in 1927. It is thought to be one of the oldest wooden roller coasters still running in the U.S. In 2012, Midwest Living magazine named the amusement park one of the best in the Midwest.
Other Cool Places to Visit
Arnolds Park has other interesting places too. You can visit the Central Emporium, which is a shopping mall. There is also the Iowa Great Lakes Maritime Museum. This museum teaches you about boats and the history of the lakes.
The Iowa Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame is also in Arnolds Park. This area has a rich history with rock and roll music. The old Roof Garden Ballroom in Arnolds Park was a famous place where many music stars played. Famous musicians like Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash performed there. The original Roof Garden was taken down in 1987. However, a new Roof Garden opened in 2019. It looks very similar to the old one and is still a great place for music.
Another important landmark is the Abbie Gardner Sharp Cabin Museum. This site is connected to a historical event from 1857 involving early settlers and Native Americans. Next to the cabin, you can find the small Pillsbury Point State Park.
