Arròs (pronounced like "ah-ROSS") is a small village. It is part of the Vielha e Mijaran area in the Val d'Aran region of Spain.

Exploring Arròs Village

Arròs is a charming village located high up in the mountains. It sits about 1,047 meters (or 3,435 feet) above sea level. This means it's pretty high! The village is found on the right side of the Garonne River. This is just before the Garonne River meets another river called Varradós. Arròs is built on the eastern slopes of the Mariagata mountain.

A Look at Arròs's History

Back in 1981, only 66 people lived in Arròs. The village used to be part of an older town called Arròs i Vila. Because it's built on a mountain slope, the houses are spread out at different levels.

Famous Buildings in Arròs

Arròs has some really old and interesting buildings:

Santa Eulàlia Church

The village is home to the parish church of Santa Eulàlia. This church was first built in the 14th century. That's over 600 years ago! It was made in a style called Gothic architecture. Gothic buildings often have tall, pointed arches and large stained-glass windows. The church has been fixed up and changed over the years, but its old style is still clear.

Casa Ademar: A Grand House

Another important building is Casa Ademar. People also know it as Ço deth Senhor. This is a very large house with two towers on each end of its front. It was built in 1829. This house shows off a style called Neoclassical architecture. Neoclassical buildings often look like ancient Greek or Roman temples, with grand columns and balanced designs.
