Arrowhead Mall is a shopping center located in Muskogee, Oklahoma. It first opened its doors in 1987. It's a place where people can shop and spend time. This mall is the only one within 44 miles of Muskogee. It is also close to the larger Tulsa metropolitan area.
Mall History
Arrowhead Mall was built in 1987. It was first located in the downtown area of Muskogee.
Changes in Ownership
In 2005, a company called J. Herzog bought the mall. They bought it from the first owner, Warmack & Company. Later, in 2016, the mall faced financial difficulties. It was then managed by Wells Fargo Bank. In 2018, Wells Fargo Bank sold the mall to a new investor. Today, Property Managers LLC from Fort Worth, Texas, manages the mall.
Mall Updates
J. Herzog made some improvements to the mall in 2014. They removed an old play area. They also added more seating in the food court. Visitors could now enjoy free internet access. A new clothing store called Justice also opened.
Anchor Stores Over Time
Malls often have large main stores called "anchor stores." Arrowhead Mall used to have four of these.
- Sears closed its store in November 2014.
- Dillard's closed its doors in May 2019.
- The United States Postal Service moved into part of the old Sears store in 2019.
- JCPenney announced its closure in June 2020. It closed around October 2020.
- Stage also closed its store in August 2020.
JCPenney was the last of the original anchor stores to close.
