Arrowhead State Park is a fun place to visit in Oklahoma! It's now called the Arrowhead Area and is part of Lake Eufaula State Park. This park covers about 2,200 acres in Pittsburg County, Oklahoma. It sits on a piece of land that sticks out into Eufaula Lake. This lake is one of the biggest man-made lakes in the southwestern United States. You can find the park close to the town of Canadian, Oklahoma.

The park offers many ways to stay and play. You can set up a tent at one of 100 tent sites. There are also 91 spots for RVs.

Arrowhead State Park has lots of cool things to do.

Outdoor Adventures

  • Camping: Stay overnight in a tent or RV.
  • Picnics: Enjoy a meal outdoors at picnic shelters.
  • Boating: Visit the marina for boat access to the lake.
  • Playgrounds: Kids can have fun on the park's playgrounds.
  • Trails: Explore the park on various walking and biking trails.
  • Miniature Golf: Play a round of mini-golf.
  • Swimming: Cool off in the designated swimming area.
  • Mountain Biking: Ride your bike on exciting mountain biking trails.
  • Horseback Riding: The park has an equestrian campground and stables. There are also about 25 miles of trails just for horses.

Group Camps

If you're with a big group, the park has special group camps. These camps include a kitchen and bunkhouses. They can sleep up to 144 people.

Area 51 Marina

The Area 51 Marina is also located in the park. It's in the Echo Ridge area. This marina also has a restaurant where you can grab a bite to eat.

Arrowhead State Park Golf Course

The park is home to an 18-hole golf course. It's a par 72 course right next to Eufaula Lake. The course has nice bent grass greens. It also features Bermuda grass tees and fairways. You'll find sand bunkers but not many water hazards.

Golf Course Facilities

  • Putting Green: Practice your putting skills.
  • Pro Shop: Rent carts and clubs here. You can also buy snacks and drinks.
  • Driving Range: Warm up your swing before your game.

The golf course is open every day from 7 AM to 7 PM. It is only closed on Christmas Day.

Getting to the Park

To reach Arrowhead State Park, drive about 18 miles north of McAlester, Oklahoma. You'll be on U.S. Highway 69. Then, turn east onto State Park Road and drive for about 4 miles.

Park Fees

Since June 15, 2020, there is a small fee to enter this park. This money helps keep the park nice and makes improvements. The fee is charged per vehicle. It costs $10 per day, or $8 if you have an Oklahoma license plate. Veterans who were honorably discharged and Oklahoma residents age 62 and older (and their spouses) do not have to pay. You can also buy passes for three days, a week, or even a whole year.
