This means it's an area that the U.S. Census Bureau defines for collecting population data. It is not an officially incorporated city or town with its own local government.
In 2020, about 420 people lived in Arroyo Gardens. Before 2010, it was part of a larger area called Arroyo Gardens-La Tina Ranch. Now, Arroyo Gardens and La Tina Ranch are separate CDPs. Arroyo Gardens is also part of the bigger Brownsville–Harlingen metropolitan area.

Arroyo Gardens is located in the north-central part of Cameron County, Texas. It is about 14 miles (23 km) east of Harlingen. It is also about 24 miles (39 km) north of Brownsville. To its east, you'll find the community of La Tina Ranch.
The total area of Arroyo Gardens is about 10.3 square kilometers (4.0 square miles). Most of this area, about 10.2 square kilometers (3.9 square miles), is land. A small part, about 0.1 square kilometers (0.04 square miles), is water.
