Arthashastra facts for kids
Arthashastra is a very old and important book from India. It was written by a wise person named Kautilya, who was also known as Chanakya. Kautilya was a special minister, like a top advisor, to Chandragupta Maurya. Chandragupta Maurya was a powerful emperor who ruled a big part of Ancient India from about 321 BC to 297 BC.
The book Arthashastra was put together over a long time. It reached its final form around 1,800 years ago, in the 2nd century. It's like a guide for how to run a country well.
The Arthashastra has fifteen main parts. It talks a lot about how politics works and how to manage a government. It covers many different topics that are important for a ruler and a kingdom.
