Arthur Schnabel (born 16 September 1948 – died 22 October 2018) was a famous German judoka. A judoka is an athlete who practices judo, a martial art and combat sport. Arthur Schnabel won a bronze medal at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. He was 70 years old when he passed away in 2018.

Arthur Schnabel's Judo Career

Arthur Schnabel was a talented judoka from West Germany. He competed in different weight classes during his career. These included the 93 kg, 95 kg, and Open divisions. The Open division means there are no weight limits for the competitors.

Olympic Achievements

Arthur Schnabel represented West Germany in two Summer Olympics. His biggest success came at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. There, he earned a bronze medal in the Men's Open division. This was a major achievement for him and his country. He also competed in the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal. In 1976, he competed in the 93 kg weight class.

European Championships Success

Besides the Olympics, Arthur Schnabel also had a strong record in the European Judo Championships. He won several bronze medals at these important competitions.
