Arthurdendyus is a group of special worms. They are called land planarians. These worms live in New Zealand.
What Makes Arthurdendyus Special?
These worms have a unique body part called a pharynx. It is shaped like a bell. Their ovaries (where eggs are made) are in a different spot. They are located to the side of their male reproductive system. Most other land planarians have ovaries closer to their brain.
Arthurdendyus worms also have special glands. These glands are called adenodactyls. They are found in their reproductive system. Other worms like Artioposthia and Newzealandia also have these glands.
Where Did the Name Arthurdendyus Come From?
The name Arthurdendyus is a tribute to a scientist. His name was Arthur Dendy. He was an English zoologist. He studied many land planarians. He found them in Australia and New Zealand.
