Arzos Peak facts for kids
Arzos Peak is a tall, rocky mountain peak in Antarctica. It's part of the Sentinel Range, which is a long chain of mountains in the Ellsworth Mountains. This peak rises to 1,970 meters (about 6,463 feet) high. It's located on the western side of the northern part of the Sentinel Range.
The name "Arzos" comes from an ancient language. It was the name of the Sazliyka River in Southern Bulgaria, used by people called Thracians long ago.
Where is Arzos Peak Located?
Arzos Peak is found at 77°48′37″S 86°42′50″W / 77.81028°S 86.71389°W. This means it's in the southern part of the world, in Antarctica.
- It is about 10.4 kilometers (6.5 miles) southwest of Mount Crawford.
- It is also about 10.22 kilometers (6.35 miles) west of Mount Dawson.
- You can find it about 15 kilometers (9.3 miles) northwest of Mursalitsa Peak.
- It is 18.65 kilometers (11.59 miles) southeast of Fisher Nunatak.
The United States created maps of this area in 1961.
