Asad Ashraf (Urdu: اسد اشرف), born on June 21, 1963, is a Pakistani politician. He has been a member of the Senate of Pakistan since March 2018. Before that, he served as a member of the Provincial Assembly of Punjab from 2002 to 2013.

About Asad Ashraf
Early Life and Education
Asad Ashraf was born in Lahore, Pakistan, on June 21, 1963.
He studied medicine and earned his MBBS degree (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery) from Allama Iqbal Medical College in 1986. Later, in 1994, he completed a special diploma in Cardiology from the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases in Karachi.
Joining Politics
Asad Ashraf became involved in politics in 1996. He joined the Pakistan Muslim League (N) (PML-N) party. He decided to join after his brother, Javed Ashraf, who was also a member of PML-N, passed away.
From 1997 to 1999, he worked as an advisor to the Chief Minister of Punjab, Shehbaz Sharif.
Political Journey
Serving in the Punjab Assembly
Asad Ashraf was first elected to the Provincial Assembly of Punjab in the 2002 general election. He ran as a candidate for the PML-N party in the Constituency PP-138 (Lahore-II). He won the election, defeating a candidate from another party. During his time in the Punjab Assembly, he was a deputy leader for the PML-N group.
He was re-elected to the Provincial Assembly of Punjab in the 2008 general election. Again, he ran for the PML-N party in the same constituency, PP-138 (Lahore-II), and won.
Later Elections
In the 2013 general election, Asad Ashraf ran for the Provincial Assembly of Punjab as an independent candidate. However, he was not successful in winning the seat. In the same election, he also tried to win a seat in the National Assembly from Constituency NA-118 (Lahore-I) as an independent candidate, but he did not win that election either.
Becoming a Senator
In March 2018, Asad Ashraf was elected to the Senate of Pakistan. He ran as an independent candidate for a general seat from Punjab in a special by-election. Even though he ran as an independent, he had the support of the PML-N party. He officially became a Senator on March 12, 2018.
