Asad Ashraf (born June 21, 1963) is a Pakistani politician. He is currently a member of the Senate of Pakistan. He has been a Senator since March 2018. Before that, he was a member of the Provincial Assembly of Punjab from 2002 to 2013.

Early Life and Education
Asad Ashraf was born in Lahore on June 21, 1963.
He studied medicine and became a doctor. He earned his MBBS degree in 1986. This is a special degree for doctors. He studied at Allama Iqbal Medical College. Later, he got a special diploma in heart diseases (Cardiology). He completed this in 1994 in Karachi.
Political Career
Asad Ashraf joined the Pakistan Muslim League (N) (PML-N) political party in 1996. He decided to join politics after his brother, Javed Ashraf, passed away. His brother was also a member of the PML-N.
From 1997 to 1999, he worked as an advisor. He advised the Chief Minister of Punjab, Shehbaz Sharif.
Serving in the Punjab Assembly
In 2002, he was elected to the Provincial Assembly of Punjab. He ran as a candidate for the PML-N party. He won the election in his area, called Constituency PP-138 (Lahore-II). He received 10,651 votes. He defeated a candidate from another party, the Pakistan Muslim League (Q). During his time in the Punjab Assembly, he was a deputy leader for his party.
He was elected again to the Provincial Assembly of Punjab in 2008. He ran for the PML-N party once more. He won his seat in Constituency PP-138 (Lahore-II). He received 19,552 votes this time. He defeated a candidate from the Pakistan Peoples Party.
Running as an Independent Candidate
In the 2013 general election, he ran for the Punjab Assembly again. This time, he ran as an independent candidate. This means he did not belong to a specific political party. He ran in Constituency PP-138 (Lahore-II) but did not win.
In the same election, he also tried to win a seat in the National Assembly. He ran as an independent candidate for Constituency NA-118 (Lahore-I). He was not successful in this election either.
Becoming a Senator
Asad Ashraf was elected to the Senate of Pakistan in March 2018. The Senate is like an upper house of the parliament. He was elected from Punjab as an independent candidate. He received 298 votes. He was supported by the PML-N party.
He officially became a Senator on March 12, 2018.
