Ashikaga Yoshikazu (error: {{nihongo}}: Japanese or romaji text required (help)) was an important leader in Japan. He was the fifth shōgun of the Ashikaga shogunate. He ruled from 1423 to 1425 during the Muromachi period. Yoshikazu was the son of the fourth shōgun, Ashikaga Yoshimochi.
Becoming Shōgun
Yoshikazu's father, Yoshimochi, decided to give up his power. Yoshikazu then became the Sei-i Taishōgun. This is the full title for a shōgun, meaning "Commander-in-Chief of the Expeditionary Force Against the Barbarians". He was 18 years old when he took on this big role.
However, Yoshikazu's time as shōgun was very short. He ruled for less than two years. He passed away in 1425. His Buddhist name was Chōtoku-in (長得院).
