Ashton is a small, unincorporated community. It is located in Walton Township, Sumner County, Kansas, United States. An unincorporated community means it does not have its own local government.
You can find Ashton about halfway between the towns of South Haven and Arkansas City. It is also close to an old, unused railroad track.
Ashton's Past
Ashton was once an important stop. It was on the Kansas Southwestern Railway line. This railway used to pass right through the community. It ran from east to west. The railway connected places like Geuda Springs to South Haven.
Ashton also had its own post office. It first opened in 1887. This post office served the community for many years. It finally closed down in 1971.
