Ashwood is a small place in Maury County, Tennessee, in the United States. It's called an unincorporated community, which means it doesn't have its own city government like a big town. Most of Ashwood has actually become part of a nearby city called Mount Pleasant.

Ashwood is located about six miles southwest of Columbia, Tennessee. It's a quiet area with a lot of history.

Ashwood has a rich history, especially with some important buildings and people.
Historic Homes and Churches
Several famous buildings were built here a long time ago.
- Ashwood Hall was a large plantation house. It was built between 1833 and 1837. This house belonged to Bishop Leonidas Polk.
- Pine Hill is another beautiful mansion. It was built in Ashwood in 1838.
- St. John's Episcopal Church was built between 1839 and 1842. This church is so important that it's listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This means it's a special place worth protecting.
Early Community Life
Ashwood got its name from the Ashwood Hall plantation.
- A post office, where people could send and receive mail, was opened in Ashwood in 1841.
- In the 1840s, Ashwood was a busy place. It had a "gristmill," which grinds grain into flour.
- There was also a "hemp factory" and a "sawmill." These businesses were part of what Bishop Polk owned and ran.
- The post office in Ashwood stayed open for many years but finally closed down in 1956.
