History of Asia Soft Drink

How Asia Began

The "Asia" brand soft drinks first started being made in Guangzhou, China, in 1946. Just a few years later, in 1949, the factory and the brand became owned by the Chinese government.

Growing and Changing

By the 1960s, Asia soft drinks, along with another brand called "Pearl", were even sold in Hong Kong. They came in different flavors, like apple.

In 1993, Asia teamed up with PepsiCo, a very large soda company, to form a joint venture. A joint venture is when two companies work together on a business project. However, PepsiCo later stopped making Asia brand drinks.

Who Owns Asia Now

In 2017, the Guangzhou government bought back the company that made Asia drinks. It became known as Guangzhou Asia Beverage Co., Ltd.

The right to use the "Asia" brand was also bought by Xiangxue Pharmaceutical. This happened through another joint venture called Xiangxue Asian Beverage, which started in 2009. This new company also rents the original factory from the government.
