Club History: The Rise of ASSU

The ASSU football club started on January 10, 2002. Just seven years later, they won their first big title. This was the First Stage of the 2009 Campeonato Potiguar. They secured this win on March 1, 2009, after a 2–2 tie with Santa Cruz-RN. This victory earned them a spot in the final match. It also gave them a chance to play in the 2010 Copa do Brasil.

Winning the State Championship

ASSU won the Campeonato Potiguar on May 1, 2009. This was a huge achievement for the young club. Winning this championship also meant they could play in the 2009 Campeonato Brasileiro Série D. However, the club decided not to join that competition. In the same year, 2009, ASSU also won the Copa RN.

Playing in the Copa do Brasil

In 2010, ASSU took part in the Copa do Brasil. This is a major national cup competition in Brazil. They were eliminated in the First Stage by Atlético Goianiense.

Youth Team Development

In 2011, ASSU's youth team played in the Campeonato Potiguar U-18 for the first time. They reached the semifinals but were defeated by América de Natal. The youth team later earned a spot in the 2012 Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior. They qualified by beating Visão Celeste 4–3 in a penalty shootout. This showed the club's commitment to developing young talent.

Home Stadium: Edgarzão

Associação Sportiva Sociedade Unida plays its home games at Estádio Edgar Borges Montenegro. This stadium is usually called Edgarzão. The Liga Assuense de Desportos owns the stadium. It can hold up to 4,000 people. This is where fans gather to cheer on their team.
