María Asunción Rodés Serna (born on September 16, 1957), known as Assumpta Serna, is a talented actress and author from Spain. She has acted in many movies and TV shows. Assumpta has worked in 20 different countries. She has performed in six languages and won over 20 international awards for her acting.

Assumpta Serna's Life Story

Assumpta Serna was born in Barcelona, Spain. When she was younger, she studied law. But by the time she was 19, she decided she wanted to be an actress instead. She then joined the Barcelona's School of Dramatic Arts to learn acting.

In 1994, Assumpta married Scott Cleverdon. He was also an actor. They met while working together on a TV show called Sharpe's Company.

Assumpta Serna has had a long and successful acting career. She has appeared in many films and television series. She has often felt more successful acting in other countries than in her home country of Spain.

Assumpta Serna is well-known for her main role in the movie I, the Worst of All (1990). In this film, she played Sor Juana, a famous Mexican poet and thinker.

She also acted alongside Antonio Banderas in Matador (1986). This was one of the early films by the famous director Pedro Almodóvar. On television, Assumpta Serna is famous for playing a Spanish fighter in the first four parts of the Sharpe series. These TV films are based on novels by Bernard Cornwell.

She also played Anna Cellini in Falcon Crest. Another notable role was Catherine of Aragon in the TV series Henry VIII. She acted alongside Helena Bonham Carter and Ray Winstone in that show. She also appeared in the popular Spanish TV series Aquí no hay quien viva.

From 2011 to 2014, Assumpta Serna played Vannozza dei Cattanei. This character was a main female role in the historical drama Borgia. Vannozza was the mistress of Cardinal Rodrigo Borgia.

Assumpta also helped produce a documentary called Fresco Fiasco. She also acted in the movie Behold the Monkey. Both films are about the famous restoration of the Ecce Homo painting.
