History of Atlanta
The town of Atlanta began when three smaller towns joined together. These towns were called Spargerville, Shielville, and Buena Vista. The first part of what is now Atlanta was planned in 1834. The name "Atlanta" has been used for the town since 1885. It is thought that the town was named after the city of Atlanta, Georgia.
A special building called the Roads Hotel is in Atlanta. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. This means it is an important historical place.
