Atri facts for kids
Atri is a very important mythological figure in Hinduism. He is known as a wise and powerful sage. In ancient Hindu texts, Atri is one of the seven greatest sages, often called the saptarishis. This means "seven sages" in Sanskrit.
The seven famous sages were Kashyapa, Atri, Vashitha, Vishvamitra, Gautam, Jamdagni, and Bharadvaja. People believed these sages were almost like gods because of their wisdom and spiritual power. Ancient Hindu astrology connected these seven sages to the stars you see in the night sky. They are linked to the Great Bear constellation, also known as the Big Dipper. The wives of these sages were thought to be the stars of the Pleiades cluster.
