Atsuhiro Miura's Club Journey
Atsuhiro Miura was born in Oita, Japan, on July 24, 1974. He started his professional football career in 1994. He joined a team called Yokohama Flügels.
Playing for Yokohama Flügels
Miura quickly became a key player for Yokohama Flügels in 1995. He often played as a left midfielder. During his time there, the club won the 1994–95 Asian Cup Winners' Cup. This was a big achievement for the team. In 1998, they also won the Emperor's Cup, a major Japanese football tournament.
Sadly, the Yokohama Flügels team had money problems and closed down at the end of 1998. After this, Miura moved to another team in Yokohama.
Moving to New Teams
After Yokohama Flügels, Miura joined Yokohama F. Marinos in 1999. He played there for two years. In 2001, he moved to Tokyo Verdy. While he was playing for the Japanese national team, he had fewer chances to play for Tokyo Verdy.
In 2005, Miura joined Vissel Kobe. He even became the team captain! However, by 2007, he started playing less often. In August 2007, he made another move. He joined Yokohama FC, a club that was started by fans of his old team, Yokohama Flügels. Atsuhiro Miura played for Yokohama FC until he retired from football at the end of the 2010 season.
Miura's National Team Career
Atsuhiro Miura also had a great career playing for the Japanese national team.
First Appearances and Olympics
He played his first game for Japan on June 6, 1999, against Peru. He also took part in the 1999 Copa America tournament that year. In September 2000, he was chosen to play for the Japan U-23 national team in the 2000 Summer Olympics. He was one of the "over-age" players allowed to join the younger team.
Asian Cup Success
In October 2000, Miura played in the 2000 AFC Asian Cup. Japan won the championship, which was a fantastic victory! In 2001, he played in the 2001 FIFA Confederations Cup, where Japan finished in second place.
He was called back to the national team in 2003 after two years. Even though he played as a left-sided defender, he didn't get many chances to play because of another strong player, Alessandro Santos. Miura was also part of the Japanese teams that won the 2004 AFC Asian Cup and played in the 2005 FIFA Confederations Cup. However, he did not play in any matches during these two tournaments.
Overall, Atsuhiro Miura played 25 games for Japan and scored 1 goal before 2005.
