What is the Confederations Cup?
The FIFA Confederations Cup was a football tournament for national teams. It was held every four years by FIFA, the world's football governing body. The teams that played were usually:
- The winner of the most recent FIFA World Cup.
- The host country of the next World Cup.
- The champions from each of the six FIFA confederations (like Europe, South America, Africa, etc.).
This tournament was a way for the host country to practice for the World Cup. It also gave different champions a chance to play against each other.
How the Tournament Worked
The 2005 tournament had eight teams. These teams were split into two groups, Group A and Group B. Each team played every other team in their group once.
