About Atul Kasbekar's Life
Early Life and School
Atul Kasbekar was born in Mumbai, India. He went to Campion School and Jai Hind College in Mumbai. He started studying chemical engineering at UDCT (now Institute of Chemical Technology). However, he decided to leave after his second year.
He wanted to become a photographer instead. He got advice from famous photographer Gautam Rajadhyaksha. Atul then went to the Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara, USA, where he graduated. While in Los Angeles, he trained with many photographers.
Atul Kasbekar's Career
Starting as a Photographer
Atul Kasbekar came back to India in 1990. In 1991, he began his professional photography career. He opened his own studio called Negative Space. Early jobs for companies like Vadilal and Lintas advertising helped him start his career.
He is most famous for shooting the Kingfisher Calendar. This calendar features models in swimsuits. Many of these models later became successful actors.
His Companies
In 2006, Kasbekar started a company called Corporate Image. This company helps other businesses manage their public image.
He also leads Bling! Entertainment Solutions. This company, started in 2007, manages famous people.
Producing Movies
Atul Kasbekar has also produced several Bollywood films. Some of these movies include Neerja (released in 2016) and Tumhari Sulu (released in 2017). He also produced Why Cheat India (2019) and Looop Lapeta (2022). He created his film production company, Ellipsis Entertainment, with Tanuj Garg in 2016.
Awards and Recognition
Atul Kasbekar and Vijay Mallya won awards for the Kingfisher Calendar. They won at the International Food and Beverage Creative Excellence Awards in 2004 and 2005. In 2005, they were the only winners from India.
He has also served as the honorary chairman for the Photographer's Guild of India.
Family Life
Atul Kasbekar is married to Vandana. They have two children, who are twins. Their names are Arnav Kasbekar and Naomi Kasbekar.
